It had never happened before. In all the history of South Park cafeterias, it hadn't happened even once.
Silence. Absolute, ear-breaking, horrifying silence.
It's not like many people were gone that certain day, no, actually if you dug into it, you'd notice that only three people had been missing from the entire school.
And there was no single event to make it happen either. No loud noise or lovers' quarrel.
All that could be heard was the gentle clicking of cheap spoons against cheap lunch trays.
Cartman and Kyle weren't fighting; they were actually sitting quite a few seats apart. Tweak wasn't jerking or spazzing as he usually did; aside from a little twitching, he was unnaturally calm. The football players weren't talking loudly or boasting about their latest win and all the girls weren't chatting or gossiping. Kenny wasn't flirting, the Goths weren't complaining, Stan and Wendy weren't arguing over every little thing…
It was the worst possible day to be the lunch guardian, Mr. Garrison was positive. Something was going to happen. Something horrible. He glared at kids as they passed by, waiting for one of the nasty rodent-children to make their first move. It had to happen pretty quickly…
Wait for it…
Waaaiiitttt for iitttttt………
Aaaannnnnnddddddddddddddddddddddd…………
Nothing. The bell rang and the kids, still silent, walked to their classes.
The hell.
